About Us
Nathaniel T Butterfield was appointed corresponding agent of the Phoenix Assurance in Bermuda in 1814. Due to the speed of the post in the days of sail he began business in 1815. The firm has continued to insure Bermuda homes and businesses ever since. There is still a local business which, according to family lore, (records are hard to come by before the twentieth century), has been covered continuously since 1815. The client has in their possession policy documents from 1848. The agency now places almost all business with Lloyds and remains a family business serving generations of Bermuda residents.

Nathaniel brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. A seasoned expert in underwriting and client risk management, Nathaniel leads the team with a focus on integrity, collaboration, and delivering tailored insurance solutions to all. With a deep understanding of the local market, Nathaniel is committed to supporting both clients and colleagues with insight, strategy, and personalized service. Outside of work, Nathaniel enjoys writing his next play, a day out on the water, travelling with his wife, and spending time with family.

Underwriter
Sara manages home and business insurance needs from policy inception through to claims handling. With over 10 years of experience in the Bermuda insurance industry, she is passionate about helping people protect what matters most and providing peace of mind when it comes to safeguarding homes, businesses, and valuables. Outside of work, Sara enjoys watching Formula 1, volunteering for OUTBermuda, planning her next trip, and spending time with her friends, family, and two cats.

Tiffany brings a solid background in hospitality and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Although new to the insurance industry, Tiffany is enthusiastic about learning and is dedicated to ensuring that every client experience is seamless, welcoming, and efficient. Outside of work, she enjoys making the most of life on her beautiful island, spending her free time relaxing on Bermuda’s stunning beaches, indulging in great food, and enjoying the company of friends and family.

Kate supports clients through every stage of their insurance journey - from setting up a policy to handling the monthly renewals. Although Kate is new to the insurance industry, she has a degree in Communications with a focus in Public Relations and she’s driven by a genuine desire to help people feel protected and confident in their pick of insurance providers. Outside the office, she loves performing at open mic nights, traveling to see her favourite bands, and upcycling clothing she finds at thrift stores.
